This was our initial demolition plan that looked at creating two new entrances at either intersection whilst also creating a courtyard space that connected more of the public with the library. We also made the north side more spacious as that receives more sun.

From this demolition plan we can further see what we intend on altering, removing and adding. The arrows help to show the main directions you would be able to enter the library from.

This is the master plan that more accurately represents the ground floor of the proposed extension. It also show where we have decided to move existing areas of the library due to the spaces we have altered.

The idea behind this demolition plan was to open up the north side to the sun and to the passages that flow from neighbouring buildings. We also looked into ways that we could limit any renovation or removal of parts of the building and instead simply repurpose parts of the library.

These two corners were specifically areas we wanted to renovate, move or demolish without a doubt due to the boring facade it gave off. It also was largely private space within the library so we came to a conclusion that it was a spot the library could sacrifice losing or moving.

The Master Plan here depicts our proposed design of a design scheme that is focused on keeping the library to itself, renovating on the inside and leaving the outside the same.
